Name and email address — when you complete the unlock step to view your removal request and editor contact.
Article URL and removal reasons — when you submit a URL into the tool.
Optional assessment details — if you complete the longer questionnaire (publication, article age, impact, role, prior contact attempts).
Any message you send us through the contact form, email, or scheduled meetings.

Information we collect automatically

Analytics events — page views, referring site, country (city-level), browser, and approximate session length. Collected by Cloudflare Web Analytics (a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics service).
Server logs — IP address and request metadata, retained briefly by our hosting provider (Vercel) for security and operations.

Information we do not collect

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or behavioral tracking.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
We do not collect payment information directly — there is no charge to use the free tool.

2. How we use your information

To deliver the service — generate your removal-request letter and find the editor's direct contact.
To respond to your inquiries — when you contact us with questions.
To follow up — if you opted into 30-day follow-up at the unlock step, we may send you an escalation guide and progress check-in (you can unsubscribe at any time).
To improve the service — aggregate analytics on which features are used and how the tool performs.
To meet legal obligations — for example, complying with a valid subpoena or court order.

3. Third-party service providers we share data with

To deliver the service, we share specific data with the following processors. Each is contractually bound to protect your information.

We also rely on a small set of standard infrastructure providers and internal-team tools: Vercel (web and serverless hosting; processes server logs that may include IP addresses for security and operations), Google Workspace (business email — handles any messages you send us), and Slack (our internal team chat where new-lead notifications are routed from n8n Cloud). These providers act as data processors under our instructions and are bound by their published Data Processing Agreements. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics for cookie-free, aggregate site analytics (no IP addresses or personal identifiers are collected) and Hunter.io to look up editorial contacts by publication domain (no user-identifying data is sent — only the publication's domain name).

We do not sell your personal information to third parties for advertising or any other purpose.

4. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to deliver the service and our legitimate business purposes, or as required by law:

Contact records (name, email, article history) — retained for up to 7 years from your last interaction, then deleted or anonymized.
Server logs — typically 30 days, then automatically purged.
Aggregate analytics — retained indefinitely in anonymized form (no individual identification possible).

If you ask us to delete your information sooner, we will do so unless we have a legitimate business or legal reason to retain it. See "Your rights" below.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights over your personal information:

Access — request a copy of the information we hold about you.
Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
Deletion — ask us to delete your information (subject to legal exceptions).
Portability — request a machine-readable copy of your information.

We use industry-standard safeguards including HTTPS encryption for all traffic, encrypted-at-rest storage for credentials and sensitive data, restricted internal access, and routine vendor security review. No service can guarantee absolute security; if we ever become aware of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

7. International data transfers

RemoveNews.ai is operated from the United States. If you access the site from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and other lawful mechanisms for transfers from the EU/UK to the US.

8. Links to other sites

Our service helps you contact news publishers and may link to their websites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites; please review their own privacy policies before interacting with them.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the site for at least 30 days. Your continued use of the service after updates take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
